(Or biospecimen bank) The repository for SWOG’s tissue, blood, and other biological samples obtained through its trials. The bank is managed at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, OH
(also “basket trial”) Cancers of different types are tested to see if they have a particular molecular abnormality. If they do, patients with that abnormality are eligible to be treated with a new drug that targets that particular abnormality. The advantage of this approach is that it allows new treatments to be tested across cancer types.
