The Big Day? Today (Technically Yesterday)
One year of work, more than…well, quite a bit of cash, and four Front Line posts later, our new website is here. It’s up today at SWOG.org. (I actually logged on last night, at 10 p.m. Pacific Time).
My favorite new features:
• Trial stats updated daily on the homepage. Watch our accrual grow!
• Easy-to-use engines to search members, publications, institutions, and trials
• Two cool videos, which you can find here and here that explain our work and impact
• Patients! They’re on our site for the first time here.
• Patient advocates! They’re also featured here for the first time. Read their bios. They’re impressive.
• Visual, easy-to-sort showcase of our news – press releases, announcements, and this blog
• Much better connection to The Hope Foundation, our charity
• Member-centered explanation of our trial process, which is here
• A convenient member resources landing page with critical tools and information in one place, from bio-specimen information to training modules to protocol development dashboards
It feels great to deliver on one of the first promises I made when I was elected group chair five short years ago. My hope is that the retooled SWOG.org makes your work easier, faster, more informative, and perhaps more fun.
Note that the CTEP/IAM log-in is new. If you’re running into problems, see the website credentials announcement posted in the news section of the site. If you need CTEP registration assistance, email the help desk at ctepreghelp@ctep.nci.nih.gov or call 703‐738‐9171. They’re open Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Eastern Time.
This project – like so many useful things at SWOG – would not be possible without The Hope Foundation. Hope funded the original user needs assessment, as well as the entire redesign and rebuild – and even paid for new photographs and videos. Thank you, Hope staff and board, for making us look good and work smarter.
We will improve the site continuously, with major updates annually, and would be grateful for your feedback. Please send your comments – positive or negative – to Wendy Lawton, SWOG communications manager, at lawtonw@ohsu.edu. Enjoy our new site. Visit it often. I’m having more fun already.
