Many of us will be meeting up in San Francisco next week for our SWOG Cancer Research Network spring meeting. Looks like we’re in for some sun, some clouds, and perfect temperatures in the 60s. Not to mention good science, and some good news.

Don’t forget our reinvigorated fun run, the SWOG spring meeting semi-tradition. Anyone interested in a 2.5 mile walk or a 5K run should meet up on Thursday, April 25 at 6:15 a.m. in the Grand Foyer of the hotel, and we’ll all walk over to the race start. This is a great way to kick off our group meeting time together – and a great opportunity to get out of the Hyatt! Because when you hear about these other highlights, you won’t want to leave the hotel.

Here are the events I am personally excited for:

- Plenary I, with a truly stellar list of speakers. As one example, Dr. Peter O’Dwyer, ECOG-ACRIN co-chair and MATCH champion will give us a look at changes to this important trial and what it means for SWOG and our partners in the NCTN

- Another look into the future at Plenary II, where SWOG’s own Dr. Razelle Kurzrock provides a peek into what’s next for precision trials and treatments

- A really important, and innovative, session on immune-related adverse events – what, why, and how (……to manage them). The symposium is open to all SWOG members and it promises to be exciting and useful

- A demo of groundbreaking digital technologies that will be used in a cancer care delivery committee trial launching later this year, including a “digital pill” that is swallowed to track opioid use and effectiveness

For days, times, and locations of all these sessions and more, look online at our meeting agenda book And please use Guidebook, our group meeting app. Why? Because it will make your meeting better. You can create a personalized session schedule, get hotel maps and other info, and even see who’s registered to attend – and send those friends direct messages. Guidebook schedule data will also help us figure out what sessions are popular and which ones aren’t, and it will help us build a better meeting for you in the future.

I look forward to seeing you there!
