Nov. 27, 2015 -
Many hands and minds come together make our work possible. Today, in the spirit of Thanksgiving, I want to express my gratitude to their owners!
I thank SWOG staff -- from the Northwest to the Southwest to the Midwest - for analyzing, auditing, collecting, creating, computing, and connecting.
I thank our partners -- particularly the NCI, and colleagues in the other National Cancer Trials Network groups, the folks at The Hope Foundation, and at ASCO -- for collaborating in our cancer clinical trials -- and letting us collaborate in theirs.
I thank our patients, who join us on our path to discovery. Their trust, and their better health, is what we work for every day.
And I thank our members. SWOG is, at its core, a broad band of volunteers. Our nearly 12,000 members come together to design and conduct cancer trials, and to accrue patients onto those trials, not because they're paid to, but because they want to. Our physicians, CRAs, statisticians, support staff, bench scientists, nurses, advocates, and pharmacists want to improve the lives of people with cancer, and to prevent the disease.
I'm grateful we're bound together in this work, and I am grateful for all of your service. Best wishes for a wonderful start to the holiday season.
